Advanced methods for the development of low-porosity reservoirs: the experience of Norwegian companies

Topical issue “Advanced methods for the development of low-porosity reservoirs: the experience of Norwegian companies in the application of new energy-saving drilling technologies. Methods for reducing the risks of hydraulic fracturing were explored at a technical seminar organized by Energy Academy with a visit program in Stavanger, Norway’s oil capital, March 12-16, 2018.
Participants from PermNIPIneft, SUEK, Almetyevsk State Petroleum Institute, and others with a large interest to get acquainted with the experience of companies in Norway on such issues as “clean” mining through the injection of polymers, innovative solutions of Typhonix company to increase oil recovery with the use of polymer technology, benefits from the use of this technology in heavy oil fields, energy efficient waterflooding, increasing the efficiency of pumping water operations were discussed.

Russian oil industry workers recognized the Coilhouse system of the Norwegian company Quality Intervention AS as an alternative to coiled tubing and a borehole tractor, as well as the innovative solution connecting Wireline and Coiled tubing, and the patented Quality Intervention AS equipment for casing old wells in order to increase the inflow demonstrated by the Russian oil industry. CEO Bjarne Langeteig, previously held executive positions in Schlumberger, BP and AGR.

Professor at the University of Stavanger, Dr Torleiv Bilstad, talked about the re-use of bottom-hole (reservoir) water membranes to enhance oil recovery and R & D on “smart” water in carbonate reservoirs. The system for monitoring the stability of the sides of the “Ellatsite MED” section – the development of Bulgarian specialists

The chief engineer of the Novoangarskoye enrichment plant A.Rusakov and the head of the analytical service of this enterprise I.Borzunov visited, as a part of the Russian delegation, the mining enterprise “Ellatsite MED” of the Bulgarian company Geotechmin. These specialists were especially interested in the unique system for monitoring the stability of the sides of the Ellatsite section. The delegation visited the dispatch center of this system.
Russian miners also got acquainted with the ProVision high-precision positioning system for managing all drilling operations and excavators, which resulted in significant cost savings for drilling operations and the fleet management system for Dispatch dump trucks.
